Pain Management

Pain Management

Wellness

Because animals are notoriously good at hiding their pain (animals do not like to appear vulnerable), it is important to be mindful of possible symptoms. While surgery and injuries are obvious reasons why a pet may need pain management, there are many underlying health conditions that can cause tremendous discomfort, including disc/spinal disorders, arthritis, cancer, and even oral (teeth and gum) disease.

Symptoms of Pain

Pain can manifest in the form of both behavioral and physical changes. If your pet is exhibiting any of the following signs, he or she might be experiencing pain:

  • Excessive panting

  • Restlessness/pacing/reluctance to lie down (i.e. cannot seem to get comfortable)

  • Not wanting to go up or down stairs (or get onto furniture)

  • Trembling/twitching/sensitivity to touch

  • Unusual vocalizations

  • Abnormal posture

  • Limping

If you notice any of the above, please do not hesitate to contact our office for an examination/consultation at 281-800-9003.
